Six Health Problems That Can Happen to Bloggers "Can Blogging Be What Ails You ? "


Eat more fruits!  Get more exercise, feel better than ever!

One of the many things in the last three years I have read about bloggers, is that they are spending endless hours typing, sitting and blogging and online fun can cause some problems. They're getting more aches and pains and it's not only painful but annoying to say the least. Normal occurrences that are brought on by our additionzl recreations are part of the blogging world.  If you have some of these aliments below  it's time for you to take a long look at the habits you have made and make some changes in your life style and habits before going through many tests at the doctors to find out that nothing is wrong with you but poor blogging habits and run up those bills that will cost allot of money finding out. Here are some of these complaints that may help you heal.

  1. Elbows hurt?  Are you leaning one arm on the table all the time, that bone will become inflamed. Try using a pillow underneath it, wrap it up with a towel or apply heat.
  2. Does you knees hurt more? This is something that happens from sitting long long periods, does the time just get away from you?  Try propping your legs up while sitting, use another chair to prop that leg up or both.
  3. Your  lower back aches all the time? Think about being hunched over all the time while blogging. This can cause pinched nerves, again habits create some pain if done over and over just like sleeping in the wrong position. This one is critical, so you will have to set the timer to get up and move every thirty minutes, stretch, bend, and loosen up. Your body is telling you it's not happy. If you can, have a deep back massage done once a month.
  4. Headaches? A common complaint. Long hours on a computer may be a signal for your eyes. They need a rest too. Try low script reading glasses for up close typing, eye drops for dryness and again limit the time. Take a break in between writing. Stay hydrated drink lots of water or eat watermelon.
  5. Hand and wrist issues? Oh course your typing all the time, this is the most common of all complaints. The bottom part under your thumb area hurts, your wrist is sore. Wear a wrist band all the time, the thin ones can help. This is tough on those parts and not allot but resting can help, take a moment to shake your rest while breaking every half hour, don't do what you always do or you will get what you always got. The arm band, elbow bands and thumb can feel numb, sore or pulled by spending endless hours typing.
  6. Weight gain? Oh yes the dreaded weight gain can creep up so fast. If your a food blogger it's the tasting that will get you, calories add up fast. It's time to start shedding the blogger weight, sitting will do that too! Have snacks already to go in baggies while your busy at work typing. Try apples slices, pears, bananas, carrots, celery. Drink vitamin waters, melons for hydration and if you must taste everything hold back on eating the whole thing.  There are plenty of snacks to enjoy that are healthy and satisfying. You can put on as much as 12 pounds a year. Diet is important for heart health. Stay away from chips and empty calorie foods.

So in conclusion, you have to identify how long you have had these new pains. Take a long look at your habits in blogging,  make yourself understand there is a solution and changes are needed, then stick a healthy program. Set a timer, do some stretches, treat yourself to a massage, get out and walk. You will see a difference.  Of course you should always check with your doctors if nothing has helped you, but I sure hope your pain goes away before that happens.
Hope these tips will help some of you out there, getting older isn't an excuse so you just can't use that one, this can happen to anyone, at any age.. Just keep moving, stay active and eat right!

Grilled Salmon Salad Medley


  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon barbecue sauce
  • 3 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • skinless salmon filet (1 1/4-pound piece), cut into 4 pieces
  • kosher salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh ginger
  • chunk fresh pineapple, grape tomatoes and cut up cucumbers
  • mixed salad greens
In a small bowl mix the honey, barbecue sauce and soy sauce set aside.   Place the salmon filet on an oil sprayed piece of foil. Put the sliced pepper, ginger and pineapple on top drizzle olive oil  and fold the foil tightly around the fish. Place on a hot grill or you can bake this for around 25 minutes or until fish flakes easily. If grilling, when the fish is almost cooked at around 18 minutes place directly on grill with the pineapple to achieve grill markings.
Assembly and serving:
Place mixed greens with chopped cucumbers and tomato on plate. Top with the salmon and drizzle sauce over salmon.  Add salt and pepper to taste.

February is HEART HEALTH MONTH Change your Lifestyle



Lifestyle rules when it comes to preventing Heart disease. If you get into great habits your heart will love the answer. Chances are greater to avoid surgeries, heart attacks through studies and National health surveys. Findings have shown that avoiding obesity, no smoking at all,  eating the right foods, getting exercise, moderation of alcoholic beverages (1 to 7 weekly) . Even the studies that showed normal blood pressure and perfect cholesterol recipients had to follow the above guidelines or still put their hearts at risk.
A healthy lifestyle is more powerful than medicine.
In studies following the steps to a healthier lifestyle, doing all those five would for two decade study period reduced peoples mortality risk by 50%!!.
Remember, it doesn't matter if your thin then ruin your body by smoking, drinking and eating junk food.

Everything you do comes into play. My cardiologist indicated to me the worst of all 5 on his list that contributes to heart disease and damages the arteries, is smoking. We hear that all the time but yet people even after heart surgeries resume the dreadful damaging ingredients that causes cancers and heart disease.

Follow these guidelines for a Happy Healthy Heart, it may add years on your life:
  1. Get out there and use your bike, roller skates, play tennis or take a brisk paced walk! Get that cardio going! 
  2. Eat sensible, high diets in vegetables and fruits, whole wheat, grains, leafy greens. Two or more servings a day.
  3. Drink or enjoy just one alcoholic beverage a day do not over indulge
  4. Quit smoking, do your heart a favor
  5. Lose weight, obesity is a major contributor to heart disease as well
Better habits make sense, even with hereditary factors that should give you all the more incentive to live a healthier lifestyle.

Start today, it may be saving a future to a happy heart not a heartache.

Raspberry Dressing for Salad Green:

1/2 cup raspberry vinegar
1/4 cup canned fresh or frozen raspberries

1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
3/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil 


Mix all together in a food processor till smooth, spoon over your favorite mixed greens salad.

World Cancer Day 2012 Foods That Protect and Blueberry Blackberry Smoothie

It is the occassion to unite the world in the fight against the disease through raising awareness, educating the public, and lobbying for change. My contribution today is awareness in foods.

Here are some cancer fighting foods that have demonstrated anti cancer effects. Evidence suggests in an overall diet to offer the strongest cancer protection from foods.

In many studies and updates experts have said that body fat increases the risk of seven kinds of cancers. Eating vegetables, fruits, are all low in calories which help us get to and stay a healthy weight. Whole  grains and beans are rich in fiber and moderate in calories which will also help in weight management.

Here is a list that science currently tells us plays a role in protection against cancer.

Apples
Blueberries
Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables
Cranberries
Flaxseed
Beans
Berries
Dark Green Leafy Vegetables

Grapes and Grape Juice
Squash (winter)
Green Tea

Avoid sugary drinks, limit consumption of energy dense foods.  Be phyically active for at least 35 minutes a day. Eat more of a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and legumes such as beans.
Reasearcher say that carotenoids seem to prevent cancer by acting as antioxidants. Dark leafy vegetables can inhibit the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells, skin cancer cells, lung cancer and stomach cancer.  Another report shows probable evidence that foods containing folate decrease risk of pancreatic cancer and food containing dietary fiber can reduce the risk of colorectal cancers.

Blueberry Blackberry Banana Smoothie

1 banana
1/2 cup blackberries
1/2 cup fat free vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup ice cubes

Whip in a blender until smooth and creamy around 15 to 30 seconds serve immediately
