I am sure you have all read that a diet rich in olive oil can improve heart health? What you may not know that when reading that bottle label it should be extra virgin olive oil that is key to reaping those benefits. Recent studies have shown that the freshness of the oil also makes all the difference.

Check the date of expiration on your bottle. The fresh the oil the better. To keep olive oil fresh for as long as possible, store the bottle away from direct heat of light. Do not store next to the stove and it's best in a dark cool cabinet. Use the oil within 6 months of opening. 

I suggest you buy smaller bottles than the larger ones if you don't use it up fast enough.

For now that's the scoop of being heart smart olive oil.
