Cranberry Apple Sauce Recipe

2 cups apples peeled cored and cubed
1 12 oz bag fresh cranberries
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of allspice
2 teaspoons orange zest
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/2 cup water
1/4 Amaretto liqueur

Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, cinnamon, allspice, water, Amaretto, apples and cranberries.  Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer around 5 to 7 minutes or until the cranberries pop open. Remove from heat stir in the orange rind. Serve chilled with chicken or turkey.
